- Start any day of the week.
- Practice daily, in the order listed
- Repeat each exercise a minimum of three times before moving to the next chord example.
- Sing the exercises only as far in your range as is comfortable. Never force the sound, but allow your voice to improve naturally.
- Always use a mirror to check your form and muscle movement.
These Practice Plans contain the cry exercises as presented in exercises 39-42.
• Remember to begin with a strong hum and follow it with the /mee/ syllables in these exercises and to smile again on every syllable! These exercises engage the cheek muscles in particular to aid in the development of flexibility and strength in the face.
• When practicing the cries, start the cry immediately and sing the glide bit longer over the interval of the fifth. Do not worry if you are unable to accomplish this right away. Additionally, you can sing the first note of the fifth cry for two beats before starting the cry to give yourself a little time to prepare mentally.
It may take some time to get the coordination of the fifth cries, but they will improve with deliberate practicing, and eventually they will become a part of your standard repertoire of vocal exercises.
Now that you have progressed through the three primary vowels, the Practice Plans will have more variety. It is up to you how fast you will progress at this point in your study, so you will need to focus on the quality and consistency of the practicing to produce the best results.
Take your time and make sure you are devoting adequate time to learning and integrating these new muscle movements and concepts.
